After a very long trip to Jackson, WY, September 18th was another day. We headed north and took on two National Parks head on: Grant Tetons National Park and Yellowstone. Here's how we saw it:

Two States--Three parks--And almost 1700 miles.
By now you have probably given up on the travel blog. But, despite technical difficulties, Jimmy and Susan took lots of photos and documented their trip well. The issue that thwarted our best intentions (and blogs) was the fact that we were off the grid. We didn't count on a lack of internet and even cell service from the time we left Grand Junction CO until we reached Estes Park 5 days later. Yellowstone is 3.5 million miles of off the grid exploration. You can also count on a lack of cell service and internet in Grand Teton National Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. So, while we had a great trip and saw many wonderful sights, perhaps the best part of the trip for Susan was giving Jimmy a week to learn how to do something besides gaming and YouTube. But, that also meant that there was not a way to upload entries to a blog or research details on what we saw. Now that we are back and Susan and Jimmy are getting caught up with work and homework, we will post our video blog of our travels, one section at a time. Enjoy!
We flew into Denver on September 14th and after finding the last remaining SUV on the National Rental lot, we drove to Arvada and spent the night. The next day was a travel day from Arvada to Breckenridge where we were bound for Lauren Biehle's wedding. Lauren is our niece/cousin. On our way to Breckenridge, we saw a very interesting roadside attraction and since it was interesting, involved geology and panning for gold, it was a shoe in for the adventure of the day: The ARGO Gold Mill and Mine in Idaho Springs, Colorado.

We are getting ready for our big trip of the year - Colorado, Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.
Jimmy is going to do a video diary/blog of our trip. His science class is studying earth science this year, and Colorado and Yellowstone are full of the elements they are studying. As we prepare for our trip, we will update the blog. 17 days and counting down. |
